‘This Means War’ Review
Film Synopsis
FDR (Chris Pine) and Tuck (Tom Hardy) are two CIA operatives who blow a mission, which then gives them time to catch up on whatever they want, including dating. After meeting the ‘girl of their dreams’, FDR and Tuck find out they are dating the same woman and decide to make a “gentleman’s bet” to see who will win Lauren’s heart (Reese Witherspoon).
My thoughts on the film
Let’s start this off with a bang… one of the best romantic comedies I have seen in a very, very long time. I don’t know where to begin. Quick summary, I don’t mind chick flicks, if my fiancé wants to go watch them with me; I’m down. I really don’t mind them, so when I saw this trailer, I figured it was going to be a chick flick, but you can’t go wrong with Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine. I didn’t mention Tom Hardy because I don’t know much about him other than his role in ‘Inception’, ‘Warrior’ and the upcoming Batman movie as Bane, but **bleep** am I glad to know more about him. I don’t know what it was about Tom Hardy, actually it might have been the accent that made him funny, but he killed it. I’m not leaving out Chris Pine or Reese Witherspoon though; they killed it too. Quite surprisingly though, Chelsea Handler has a bigger role than you think and she was just being her old, crude self and she blew it out of the water. ‘This Means War’ is hilarious, smart, witty and just a big ball of fun. One thing I have to mention and this mainly targets the guys, although the girls can tell their boyfriends too, but ‘This Means War’ kind of caters to the guys. It’s not really much of a chick flick because there is some action in it, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy are “competing” to win a girl over (What guy isn’t competitive?) and it’s a really funny movie. So to sum it up, just go watch the movie and enjoy it.
Rating 4/5
I think I put my whole heart and soul in that last paragraph. I think to keep it simple, ‘This Means War’ is mind blowing funny and all of you should go watch it when it comes out. Before I forget, for those of you Vancouverties, you'll be pointing out the entire movie because I would say 80% of the movie was filmed in Vancouver. Enjoy the movie; you will not be disappointed.
'This Means War' opens on Valentine's Day (Oh, how perfect). Check your local theatre for show times.
Don't forget to come back and let me know what you thought of the film!

Great review! I was contemplating whether or not this would be a cheese fest. After reading your review, though, I think I'll check it out...and the fact that Chelsea Handler is in this film. Love her!
