Enter Best Buy’s “make the music you love with Casio” contest

by Editor in Chief ‎01-22-2015 08:59 AM - edited ‎01-23-2015 08:15 AM

Many people think of Best Buy as that store where you buy a computer, or a tablet, or a cellphone.  Of course that’s true, but Best Buy is also quickly becoming the place to get so many other things too.  For example, they have been carrying music products for quite some time, expanding their selection each year with top brands like Casio, Gibson and Fender. In many ways this makes sense as most musicians use computers and tablets to help them create, record, and perform their music.

Canadians have a long tradition of making amazing music. From the sixties, The Guess Who, to the eighties Bryan Adams, and the current hugely successful Justin Bieber, these performers all began with an instrument and the ability to create songs that people love.

Making music doesn’t require tons of equipment. I know many people who make music, and perform regularly. They have a few essential pieces of equipment in common: they all play an instrument and they all use an iPad to either connect to the instrument (which can drastically increase the instruments functionality), or to display lyrics as they perform.

By offering a huge selection of instruments and gear at the most affordable prices anywhere, Best Buy is helping many more people across the country to create the music they love.  It doesn’t matter where you live in Canada, you can order what you need (keyboards, guitars, computers, cables) and have it all delivered to your home. For example, perhaps your child is ready to start taking piano lessons, but you live far outside a major city, you can visit Bestbuy.ca online, order a Casio piano, and have it in your home in no time.

Consumer expos generally get people excited to try new merchandise, and the NAMM music show is no exception. For the second year in a row, Best Buy has teamed with Casio to send two of our writers to NAMM in Anaheim. They will regularly post about the biggest and coolest innovations that they find. Manufacturers like Casio will have their newest instruments on display, and we will get to learn about them right here on the Plug-in blog.  We have set up a summary NAMM blog page to make it easy for you to browse through these announcements and quickly find things that interest you most. This page also has a selection of articles, images and videos from last year’s show.

Are you ready to start making music?  Best Buy and Casio are going to make it even easier for a couple lucky people.  Enter this contest and you may win a new Casio keyboard with stand and bench, a new iPad and the necessary interface to connect your keyboard and iPad, so you can create the music you love right away.

You can enter by commenting right here on this blog post.  First you must visit the NAMM show summary page and find a new music product that you think is really cool or interesting.  Then return here and tell us in a comment about one of the new music products you liked on that page (it may have been shown in an article, a picture or a video from last year or this year’s coverage).  That’s it.

After the contest is over we will draw two entries from all of the eligible comments to this blog post.  One person will win the second prize of a new Casio Keyboard, the other person will win the Grand prize consisting of

         1) Casio 76-key Electric Keyboard,

         2) On-stage Classic Double Brace Keyboard Stand

         3) On-stage Delux X-Style Bench

         4) Audio-Technica ATH-M30X monitor headphones

         5) IK Irig pro mobile audio/MIDI Interface

         6) IPad Air 2 64 GB with Wi-Fi

The contest begins on Thursday January 22nd  and ends on Sunday January 25th .

You may only enter once. But we all know people who love to play music. Perhaps you know a young family with children who are beginning to take lessons, privately or in school. Share this post with them so they too can have a chance to win this amazing prize.

Good luck everyone.

I want to start by saying that the Guitar throne is AMAZING. After reviewing some of the products that are spotlight on the NAMM show summary page I think the XW-PD1 looks to be a must-have to up your music-making game. A variety of sounds and effects will make making your music unique a piece of pie! I woul love to win this for my friend who has been struggling to afford new gear. He recently has decided to go solo and could use new instruments to perform with as well as to record his new singles and hopefully down the road, an EP or full album. He's always helped me out when in need and I would be happy to help him out if I were to win. Maybe it will give him a reason also to teach me how to play piano! (Here's to hoping lol). Otherwise a huge thanks to Casio and Best Buy for this awesome giveaway!

Anything from the Casio line is always a winner, but the new Casio Privia PX-760 digital piano looks like the perfect piano for me! The Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard is incredibly innovative, and seems as close to the feel of traditional piano keys as you can get. Plus, the new "concert play" function sounds fantastic!
