With the cold and wind of winter here, there is no better time to stay inside cuddled on the sofa with a few good movies, my favourite television programs and some gaming thrown in between. I’ve decided to spend the month of January reviewing a few new televisions on the market to see if their new bells and whistles live up to their claims of offering a new or improved viewing experience.
The first up is the40” Toshiba, model number 40L2200U. It offers all the standard features you want when purchasing a LED television: 1080p, 60Hz, and high definition capabilities for a nice crisp and clear picture. But what makes it unique compared to other TVs is the built-in Audyssey Sound Enhancement and ‘gaming’ mode.
Audyssey Sound Enhancement is a built in speaker system designed to create an accurate reproduction of recorded music, movie audio, or live performances. Sound is where many televisions fall short, leaving viewers with a great visual experience but something left to be desired in the audio department. The 40L2200U, however, packs a punch with a very small silver winged shaped speaker built into the bottom of the television screen. The sound is rich and offers a deep bass.
Another great perk of Audyssey technology is the volume control, which ensures that the sound level stays constant during commercials. Have you ever noticed that the volume of your commercials is often much louder than the show you’re watching? This is because advertisers and TV stations purposely increase the volume during the commercials anticipating that many people get up and move to another part of the room or household during the breaks. By increasing the volume, they have a better chance of ensuring that their ads are heard. For those of us still sitting in the same spot, this can be intrusive and annoying Thank you Toshiba for helping us circumvent this!
Finally, if you’re looking for a television that has also been designed for gaming, then look no further. The 40L2200U has an output mode that has been specifically designed for avid gamers, promising little to no lag time. This means that you won’t have to worry about your avatar missing the next jump or being hit by projectile objects because the screen froze for a second or two. We’ve all been there and know how frustrating it can be!
Just imagine no lag time when playing your favorites like NHL 13 for PlayStation 3. Simply turn on gaming mode to enjoy a fast loading and seamless playtime. So, in summary, the Toshiba 40L2200V offers a powerful audio and visual experience with superior features. It gets two thumbs up!
