I've been using windows since back in the day when windows 95 was released, then windows 98, then windows XP and windows 2000 and windows vista and windows 7 now were on to windows 8.. Windows has gone through many changes since then. Im currently using the windows 7 on my labtop and winows 8 preview build on my main pc  and I think its the best windows yet, I currently spent 2 hours hours or more daily on a computer.. I use it like anyone else.. Surf the net, play games, check email, word processing. I Definitely know my ins's and out of the windows OS  I think I would be a perfect candidate for your pilot program.

I would be a great candidate for the Windows 8 Test Pilot!  Why?

  • I have been actively using Microsoft based systems since the MS DOS days.
  • The majority of time I use my computer for work, although for me it is a split.  I work in the tech industry as an IT analyst, so I work from a PC all day long.  However, I am also very active on my PC outside of work, editing videos, editing photos, social networking, listening to music, or putting together photo books.
  • My current Operating System is Windows 7 professional, 64 bit although I do have Windows 8 release candidate running on dualboot - I do think a touchscreen is necessary for Win 8.
  • I tend to be an early adopter, whether it is Operating systems, phones, or other technologies.

I would be the perfect candidate for the Windows 8 test pilot program because I consider myself a strong skilled computer user.  I use the computer every day and the majority of time it is for using social media such as Facebook and Twitter.  I use it for staying in touch with my friends through Hotmail.  I use it to help my kids with school work and playing games.  Downloading music and books.  Preparing party invitations using Word.  School assignments with Excel or Powerpoint.  I use it to organize my pictures.  I am currently using Windows 7.  I would love to be a pilot tester for Windows 8 and share with everyone all my awesome experiences!

I am a stay at home mom who also runs a private day home and I believe I would be the perfect candidate to test out the new Windows 8!!  The majority of my time is spent on my computer whether it's playing games with the kids, surfing the web or working on documents for business and pleasure.  I also enjoy uploading my pics and then sending them to family and friends via email or posting on facebook.  My current windows 7 is great for doing all the things I enjoy which includes listening to music while I work.  I was quite impressed with windows 7, but I am really interested to see what Windows 8 has to offer and compare the 2 systems.

I would be the perfect candidate to test out Windows 8 because well, I have been waiting for months for it to come out to the geneal public!
The majority of the time I use my computer for, well, I use it for a lot of things, I'm a computer programmer, so I use it to build software (iOS, Android, Facebook & Windows), that includes video games & general software, I specialize in C C++, Java, Javascript, UnityScript & C#.

I also have extensivve experience with Photoshop, 3D Studio max & Maya which I use to build 3D models & edit pictures.

& also of course I do a lot of video browsing & watching movies, playing games, keeping in touch with my mates via MSN, Facebook & other social media as well.

My current operating system is a 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium & I'm running this on a brand new Sony Vaio (i5, 6 GB RAM & a 1GB Nvidea Geforce video card) which is less than a year old which I also bought from Best Buy!

I would honestly really love to be part of the team to test out Windows 8 as I am super excited to check it out & use it & then to start building software for it as I have quite good ideas on some really amazing software that I'm thinking of making for Windows 8!

Thank you!

  • The majority of time I use my computer for keeping in contact with family and friends.  I send emails and access facebook to chat and check in with people.  It is a great resource for filing recipes, trying to paperless filing for our family and entertainment for myself and the kids; by way of movies, videos.
  • I also use my computer to assist my daughters with school work.  My girls are in french immersion and sometimes I need help translating and resource material.
  • My current Operating System is windows xp, with office 2003

Since I left work to stay home and raise the kids my computer upgrades have been minimal.  This would be a great ooportunity for me to keep in the loop with technology and be able to assist my kids.

Thanks for the contest.

I spend every second at work infront of my laptop using Windows XP and almost the entire night at home using my desktop computer running Windows 7. On average, i am on a computer for at least 12 hours a day (8 hours at work 4 hours at home leisure). I do a range of activites from work, to games, to even technical things (such as programming). I used to build computers at a young age and still do with a very active interest in the computer hardware and software market. I used to also work at best buy in my youth for 5 years selling computers. I would be the best person to test this new OS because not only do I use windows and computers constantly, I have a deep technical understanding as well as experience selling the products to customers both from working at stores and in the office at Best Buy.

I am the perfect candidate because I am online all the time at home, for my family and myself. My husband uses the computer for his photography hobby. My kids love playing preschool games and watching online videos. I love surfing the web and participating in online mom's forums, staying social on facebook and twitter, and online shopping. We have tried many computers, including desktops, laptops and netbooks. As well as IE, Chrome, Firefox and Windows. I love trying new things and being the first of my friends to pass along advice about products and services. In fact , they look to me to be in the know! As for work, I am on a computer all day in my professional job. So I have many different perspectives to bring to a testing panel. I have never tested a big product like this (unless you count a baby playpen!) and I would jump at the opportunity to give my opinions! Thanks for your consideration!

  • The majority of time I use my computer for twitter/facebook/online purchases/mom's forums and blogs/searching for deals/news and stories/youtube/watching tv shows

I think I would be the best candidate to test the windows 8 operating system because I am an aware consumer.

I currently use Windows 7 and I know about the two different operating systems, the 32 and 64 bit versions. I have done research on my computer and on the windows 7 operating system. I also do compare operating systems to each other; specifically apple, android and microsoft because I try to stay update with what each competitor is bringing to the field and whether if what they offer is anything innovative and whether if its worth for me as consumer to buy their products. By choosing me as a candidate for your test pilot program I would be writing reviews that show others why Windows 8 is either better or worse than other operatins systems, including the previous Windows 7, which I think is a big question in everyone's mind.

Currently on my laptop I use Google Chrome, play League of Legends, I read ebooks, run Itunes,  run Skype, use Microsoft word, a basic music editing program, Teamspeak, Dropbox and some other programs but those are the major programs I use. I know how a program is supposed to work and whether it is running efficiently on Windows 8.

In my reviews I would be able to give comprehensive information because I know what I am talking about. I am also the everyday computer user who simply wants to find the optimal computer program that will do what I need with minimal problems.

I am a student at the university of Ottawa, i have been for well over 3 years now, during my years of study, every year i have managed to change from one laptop to another. I first started off with a Toshiba laptop, which was of good use, but was too heavy to become portable, and maover around everywhere i went, which then i switch to a hp computer and was commited to it for almost a year, which i enjoyed most out of all my previous laptops, it software was well updated with all the projects i had to do, and prgramms i had to install and work on, but the computer screen later was no longer working, which eventually led me to exploing the apple district of computers. It is quiet efficient, and durable. Yet it is heavy, and not appropriate for someone who is not intreged in  graphic design, and photo shop and  image definition and feature. I am not looking into again to buying an hp laptop, and it would seem that a new windows is coming out, which i would be more than thrilled to try out on my day to day activities and projects on relevance to university and work.

AS I mentioned I am a 20 year old university student, residing in Ottawa, i am currently enrolled in my 4th year of my program study of communication, my aticipated graduating date is set for December 2013, which is over a year away.

I am a female, living with my family in the suburbs of Ottawa, i am currently working for GAP inc.

I would grealty appreciate an oppurtunity to test the windows 8, before purchasing it.

Thank you kindly for your time.

I would be the perfect candidate for your Windows 8 test pilot program because I have been a professional computer programmer for the past 15 years and have used almost every Windows operating system since Windows 3.1, including Windows 95, 98, NT Workstation, NT Server, 2000, XP, Vista and my current one is Windows 7.

The majority of the time I use my computer for personal tasks, such as web surfing, listening to music, watching movies and streaming TV shows, but I also telecommute to work from time to time and create programs for my personal use, including a Space Invaders type video game for my son.

I recently completed a few YouTube videos, the latest one being a family project to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes, where I captured my family singing using Audacity and spliced several audio and video files together using Windows Movie Maker on my Windows 7 machine.  You can check out the YouTube video at:

I have been a Windows user since Windows 95 came out, I am not a Mac user because I think it is very confusing and Windows is my choice of operating system.

  • The majority of time I use my Computer for work 8 hours a day, coming home and using the computer for 5-6 hours a night doing school work and personal surfing.
  • My current Operating System is Windows Xp at work and Windows 7 at home.
  • I have also used windows 98, Me, and Vista

I would be the perfect candidate because I am always using a computer whether it would be from Internet explorer, Microsoft Word, Adobe, going on sites like YouTube and Twitter, FaceBook like everyone else.  paying bills, editing photos from my camera, watching movies from my laptop onto my TV. I see myself as a pilot myself, I am always helping my parents and co-workers with computer issues so I like to play around with the programs and figure out if this is wrong how can I get it to work the right way it should be running. I am young and always wanting to try out the latest technology and eager to learn! We have to keep up to date.

There are many reasons why you should choose me as a test pilot for the new Windows 8 platform. I've been a Windows fan since my eyes first dawned on Windows 3.1  back in the day. Having owned and operated most of the Windows platforms in my 27 years on this Earth I know I would be able to provide great feedback on the new OS.

The complete redesign with new features such as 3S (syncing, sharing and searching) gives Windows the ability to simultaneously optimize your system, which means no longer having to worry about bookmarks or old mail because Win 8 will always update them automatically. Other features such as the reset button, portable profiles, and Android apps support are just the tip of the iceberg in what this platform will give users.

I spend a great deal of time on my PC every day (roughly 10-12 hours) so I know just how much an operating system can make or break a user experience. My current OS is Windows 7 and would love to great a chance to test out the new Windows 8 system. From what I have seen I have great expectation for the new OS and know I have the tech-savvy skills necessary for doing complete reviews on the new OS experience!

I use my computer equally between work and personal. In total I spend around 13 hours a day in front of a computer or on a tablet.

Whether it is writing up market reports, doing graphic design and communications strategies at my day job, or MMORPGs, blogging and streaming video when I am at home. I would be the perfect choice because I work in the communications industry. I am always updating my technology looking for what makes my home and work experience the most connected, fastest and easiest to use.

I currently run two operating systems, Windows 7 on my laptop, and MAC on my desktop.

I think the fact that I use both a Mac and a PC would also make me a great tester since I think that Windows 8, like Windows 7, could prove to be the bridge OS that lures users back to the Windows platform from Mac.

I have tested other products and written for a technology blog in the past so I am familiar with the process. As a former journalist  I have excellent writing skills and I fairly large following on social media.

I would be the ideal candidate for your Windows 8 test pilot program because I enjoy working on the computer.  At this stage of life, as a full-time student, it is necessary to spend a lot of time on a computer.  I enjoy writing, so I would gladly share my perspective on the new Windows 8 operating system if you choose me.

  • The majority of time I use my computer for school work -I am working towards a M.Div. with a major in Counselling, so I research projects and write essays.  I also use my computer to organize our household of six; scheduling in Outlook, writing lists and today I am designing birthday invitations in Publisher.  Each day brings a new set of tasks on the computer.
  • My current Operating System is Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am not like the rest who have applied so far. I can figure out problems **bleep** my computer. I can also fix them. However that's all I can do. I am on my computer 16 hours a day 7 days a week I am currently using windows 7 . I never read how to use the operating system I just opened up the box and started using my computer and am still learning what the system can do. I am as a advertising company would say your target group. I the demographic that purchases computers and teaches the older generation what type of computer they would need.

why you would be the perfect candidate for our Windows 8 test pilot program?: As I am always on the go and need a machine that can do handle anything i throw at it.  The majority of the time I use my computer as a multi tasking device, start a multi threaded job on a remote system via RDP or process some photo's on the fly on photoshop to billing or responding to Emails.  I would spend 10-14 hours a day on a computer. I would love to tax the new OS and hardward to see if i can cut down on sending jobs back to the workstation and use this as a standalone portable workstation substitute.

My current os is Win 8 RC but it's dual boot back to WIn 7 as some software packages are not stable on 8 RC and would need to switch back and forth.

Let me break 'me' down for you.

What I use for operating systems are Windows, Mac at home and Linux at work. Given my short time in this world I can use it all in time (But, I'm looking at you!)

Each of my computers have had different uses that have changed over time. My Macs were used for audio and video editing and portability. My PC has always been for art plus the bulk of my life's work (of course games too) but my Mac broke down soon after I bought an Asus EEE Slate 121 which was actually from Best Buy. I was drawn to the idea of using art on a tablet computer in the software I'm used too much the way Ciniques are coveted, and I haven't looked back.

Currently I'm completing an online course using my slate and it works out just fine with great pen pressure and touch controls I've added so I got rid of my digital tablet and work exclusively on this machine. I actually even tried an early developer build of Windows 8 since my slate would be perfect for it and I was very curious to check it out. It was early though with no driver support so I've had to wait till there is an official release.

However my personal goal is that I want to see this technology improve for artists. I think having a portable table with a Wacom pen is essential for an artist to use vs other devices. Technology is finally there to make reliable hardware that really benefits the artist.

I think however getting picked to write reviews would help me improve my proof reading skills Smiley Wink

My current Operating System is Windows Vista Home Premium.

The majority of time I use my computer for audio production and graphic design.

I am a hands-on Windows user. I will read a manual or tutorial if there's something that absolutely confuses me, but for the most part, I solve my own problems through trial & error. I have been using Windows since version 3.0, way back in community college...and I've used every version of the OS in-between, even ME. Seeing the evolution of the software has been a remarkable journey, and I would definitely like to see just how Windows 8 stands up to its predecessors.

I believe that I, and my family, would be the perfect candidates for the pilot program you are offering.  Between all of us, someone is always on the computer either working or playing.  My husband is an extremely capable computer techy, my 17 year old is a social media junkie, my 9 year old is extremely studious and my 4 year old loves playing age appropriate learning games.  As for me, when there is a quiet house while everyone else is at school and work, I am working (and playing - we all need breaks) on the computer.

Our family utilizes an HP touchsmart computer that originally came with Vista which we upgraded to Windows 7 almost immediately after release ( windows was kind enough to offer a discounted upgrade for those that purchased a computer within a few months of the Windows 7 release), as well as a laptop with Windows 7 which my husband uses for work, and we also have a Mac laptop with the  Snow Leopard OS (unless my daughter has since upgraded without letting me know!!)

Between all of us, we would certainly be putting in the time and effort it would take to be able to critique and share our findings and opinions as you have detailed in your request.

why would I be the perfect candidate for Bestbuy's Windows 8 test pilot program? While I feel that's up to your experts to decide, I would like to give you the nudge towards selecting me by letting you know a bit about my world... As a busy Hotel Executive, I run through 1-2 laptops a year and know all about issues caused by HSPA+ to Operating systems and from VPN to Internet to Applications and battery life. I also am a Mac user at home and am well versed with the parallel drawn between Windows and MacOS and also admire components within both these pitted rivals in the computer marketplace. As the mother of a 3 year old, I am also familiar with the "Child's Play" model of using the computer. In summary, I believe that as a hotelier, technology enthusiast, online recipe chef, social networker, mother and frequently travelling executive, I can provide a comprehensive review to what Windows 8 can create by way of experience and whether it can truly become a one stop shop for all things computing. Also, my love for writing and simple communication style (non awareness to tech Jargon etc) might appeal to the non-technical readers on your Plugged-In forum. Also, I can really use a new laptop (HP Envy! that I have heard so much about...Just to be honest about my "other" motivation) •The majority of time I use my computer for Work & Catching up Socially •My current Operating System is Windows 7 Home Premium & Windows XP Enterprise

I would be the best candidate to test drive window 8 beacause  I use my computer constantly, from fb, to research on the web for various charity projects.

I am always working on programs for Youth and the Royal Canadian Legion which requires me to be tech smart also I can design forms, spread sheets and presentations to promote and educate about the Legion and also to manage my email, work on our busary program (we have six bursaries we give out each year to various schools) and our annual poster/literary contest.

Thank you for the opportunity to apply to be a beta tester for the Window 8 platform, I can't wait to see it!  I was one of the first to get the Windows 7 in my neighbourhood because I love and trust the windows products.

Take care and have a great day

By day, I work as an online communications specialist at a hospital foundation in Toronto, charged with the maintenance of the website, managing our online community, and testing out new (and hopefully cheap or free) initiatives to help our foundation raise awareness and funds for the treatment and research being done at the hospital. I'm pretty much the jack-of-all trades in our small communications department, with me taking on most of the online responsibilities. Aside from web and social media duties, I'm tasked with editing images on Photoshop, creating invitations and brochures on InDesign, helping manage the online database, writing, testing and sending out eNewsletters to subscribers, creating content for a digital display in the hospital, and editing video using the free Windows Live Movie Maker software. I'm also the resident "tech guy" when simple, technical things need to be fixed and my coworkers can't wait for our IT department to respond to a service ticket.

By night, I'm an avid gamer who runs a gaming blog with friends. We review video games and showcase gaming videos, and we're starting to branch out to try to attend and write about or videotape gaming events (out of our own pocket, of course). Our site is geared towards the older gamers - guys like us who may be married, have mortgages/kids/debt/full-time jobs, yet still try to find the time to play games.

Why would I be a prime candidate for this? I have a background in online communication, have written reviews for products, and I have owned every iteration of Windows since 3.1. While my technical knowledge is limited to one year of computer science in university, I like to believe that I possess slightly above-average technical skills, including video editing and graphic design. I am also comfortable using Macs (my old workplace used them extensively) and am able to provide a fair, unbiased comparison when it comes to features between MacOS and the different versions of Windows. I own an xbox 360 (with Kinect), which I use occassionally to stream content from my PC at home, and I'm currently beta-testing the newest version of the Xbox 360 dashboard, which will be released later this fall (**Note - I am not affiliated with Microsoft, I just managed to get into their beta**).  I also own a Windows 7 phone, which gives me a small advantage in manipulating the Metro (aka Windows 8) User Interface.  I hope to be able to pair my windows phone/xbox 360 and PC together in the future.

Why do I want to be a candidate for this? Apple has a large chunk of the market, but I'm intrigued by how Microsoft will respond. I purchased a Windows 7 phone a year and a half ago because I liked the direction Microsoft is taking the industry by innovating (rather than just litigating against competitors). Windows 8 is a big step for the computer industry whether people like it or not, and a bit of healthy competition will make things better for us, the consumer. I want to be able to throw my own $0.02 into that discussion... and let's be honest - getting a free HP Ultrabook will be an amazing added bonus as well.

  • The majority of time I use my computer for social media (both on the company and individual level, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn), blogging on Wordpress for a gaming site my friends and I write for, video editing on Windows Live Movie Maker, using excel for reports, using Powerpoint to create content for our digital display, and Word and Office for their respective tasks. Also, just general websurfing.

I would be a great canidate for the windows 8 launch because I use my computer/laptop at work and at home. I am on the computer for about 12 hours a day. I am a bookkeeper and have to operate accounting programs to internet applications constanly, then when I am home I am on facebook and reasearching things with my daughter. I am currently using windows 7 professional and I love it. I also have a windows phone and would never consider an apple. I am very pleased with how user friendly windows is. I am currently preparing taxes at my job and would love to test out the new windows 8 on that product, we are looking to upgrade our sytems again and it would be nice to try the product out before purchasing it.

I think I would be perfect for testing windows 8. I use my computer for literally everything. It's my Tv, My phone, My internet, as well as my job. I use it to shop, ship, and play games, research, print coupons,. My kids also use it for educational programs and their own desktop called Magic Desktop.  I need my operating system as well as my computer to keep up with me in my ever changing needs. :womanlol:You have found your candidate!  Look no further.

I am a Canadian Lifestyle Blogger at and I am well known in the Social Media-sphere.  I have two teenage kids who are gamers and computer geeks.   I am currently working on an old HP Laptop which has Windows 7 on it at the time.   I recently had my fan replaced. I have the gift of gab and I am able to analyze a system fairly well based on a combination of my usage and my children's usage.

I love PC's and I spent most of my time either doing web development, social media, or blogging on my blog.

I look forward to hearing from you and testing Windows 8!

I would be the perfect candidate for the Windows 8 test pilot program because I have previously studied and worked in the computer industry. I have since left the industry and now work in the health care field where I put my PC to use using various Anatomy and Physiology programs such as Primal 3D Anatomy.

Throughout my past computer career I have worked troubleshooting every Windows version since Win95 to WindowsXP for small to medium business clientele. I also have some knowledge of Windows 3.1 from my high school days.

I use my computers for all purposes, recreational and business. I spend some time using it for social networking purposes, watching televesion and news programs and I also use my computer for accounting purposes as I run my own business.

I believe with my vast knowledge of most of the previous Windows Operating Systems that I can truly given the new Windows 8 a proper test run.

The majority of the time I use my computer for assisting me in my current health career.

My current Operating System is Windows 7 Home Preimum 64-bit.

I would be a perfect canadidate for this as I have been a long time windows user,  from the mid-ninties, and have used used windows in many different ways.  As a casual user, as a technical support at my work in a small office, and now as a Work at home mom blogger, who relies heavily on my computer.  We even have our 6, 4, and 2 yr olds try use windows, and can write from the aspect of how user friendly it is to kids.

Besides that aspect, on a daily basis I write a blog reviewing different products, from toys, to apps and software, clothes, food, anything and everything that our family uses on a daily basis.  I provide honest reviews, and have received very positive feedback from the companies I have partnered with along with my readers.  I have also worked with many of the same companies on an ongoing basis, as they enjoyed my work and my professionalism.  While my reviews aren't always positive they are honest, and I try to display positive and negative as I see it.

The majority of time I use my computer for blogging, and social networking, as pertaining to my blog

Why you would be the perfect candidate for our Windows 8 test pilot program?

have been an avid follower of all things related to computers. Ever since I was a very young kid playing Quake

with my dad, I have always had a fascination with copmuters and technology in general. Throughout my life I've

been a loyal user of Windows because it was clearly the best best choice for an operating system. I have been

with Windows through the ups and downs of its life cycles and have never wavered from the OS, even when it was

frustrating because I knew that windows would always find a way to make things better. With the Release

Preview of Windows 8, I was pleasantly surprised, even with the few bugs that were present.Everything ran \

smoothly and software that was supported was noticeably faster and more reliable. I look forward

to trying out the final release of Windows 8.

  • The majority of time I use my computer for is gaming and software related to school. As an engineering student, I find that the software used in design and analysis can be quite demanding and the release of a new OS is promising for such high demand activites.
  • My current Operating System is Windows 7 on my desktop and the Windows 8 Release Preview on my laptop.

  • The majority of time I use my computer for blogging about brands, family living with 5 kids (7 years and under) and the Canadian experience.  My blog can be seen here, check it out: SnyMed Living High on the Hog!
  • My current Operating System is Windows 7 Home Premium edition (64-bit operating system).

I would be the perfect candidate for the Windows 8 test pilot programme, as I am an early adopter of new technology and always quick to be asked and give my honest opinion about it!  I actively post my reviews on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and more.

It would also be nice to hear a woman's opinion, as I find so many tech reviews are done by men.  Hello!  Tons of women also buy these products, especially with the holidays just around the corner!

Please pick me to take Windows 8 out for a test drive!

Why I am the perfect candidate for this test program:

I am the perfect candidate for this test pilot program because I spend almost all day, every day at or near my computer. I am familiar and comfortable using computers for both work and play. Plus, I have experience both in reviewing products and writing my experiences in blogging format.

During the day, I use the computer to work as a review/ family blogger, and as a virtual assistant, setting up websites and blogs for clients as well as administration work. I spend lots of time in social media, (Facebook and Twitter), as well as spending time on Pinterest - an easy site to find amazing ideas.I love the challenges of computers - from coding to troubleshooting. In fact, when something goes wrong with their computer, friends and family call my husband and I to fix it for them. Together we make a great tech support problem solving team.

I also homeschool my kids - who love computers as much as their parents. We use the computer to run many educational websites and programs throughout the day. It amazes me how quickly children can understand and navigate the world of technology.

Most evenings, I spend a lot of time playing an online MMORPG, and other online games, while chatting with friends and family.

  • The majority of time I use my computer for: work, connecting with friends/family, learning, and play.
  • My current Operating System is: Windows 7.

What an amazing opportunity. Smiley Happy I'd love to be a part of it.

Lisa Marie.
