For thirty years the Italian Plumber has been rescuing his girlfriend from the (surprisingly) persistant King Koopa, much to the delight of the gaming masses.  With this newest of Nintendo Consoles, our mustachioed hero is back again, for another 2D adventure.

Kobo Glo lights up the e-reader market

by ShelaghM on ‎11-21-2012 12:00 PM - last edited on ‎12-11-2012 02:53 PM by Blogger

As a passionate reader I’ve been a bit reluctant to turn to e-readers. Could they duplicate the book experience? Turns out the Kobo Glo can, if you can let go of the page.

I was pleasantly surprised reading an e-book on the Kobo Glo. This e-reader is super compact and super light – something you want when you’re reading for several hours.

It's shorter and skinnier than its predecessors at 16 x 11 cm (6.4 x 4.5 inches) and weights only 190g. The soft-touch material feels good in the hand and the turn page options are responsive and quick.

100th Grey Cup – Celebrate in Style!

by Blogger on ‎11-21-2012 11:49 AM - last edited on ‎11-21-2012 12:44 PM by Blogger

This coming Sunday, November 25, marks a very exciting day in Canadian sporting history – the 100th Grey Cup Game! While we Canadians have often been criticized for our fickle ways when it comes to supporting our local sports teams through thick and thin, this weekend is sure to bring both sides of the continent together in patriotic unity – complete with chili, touques, and beer – when the Calgary Stampeders take on the host Toronto Argonauts; the third meeting between the two teams for the Grey Cup championship, and the first since the 79th Grey Cup in 1991.

Sennheiser Wireless Headphones

by TechLinz The Captain on ‎11-21-2012 11:23 AM - last edited on ‎02-19-2013 03:03 PM by Epic Genius

If you are a music lover like myself, then you most definitely appreciate great sound quality. Sennheiser is known to deliver some of the best headphones on the market and the RS 160’s do not disappoint.

At first, I looked at the price tag and thought to myself I would never spend $300 on a pair of headphones. I was perfectly content with my twenty-dollar ear buds. My view was further cemented when I tried the headphones out. They were good, but I didn’t think they were that much better than my ear buds and they most certainly were not a justifiable purchase for that amount.

However, it wasn’t until I put my ear buds back in that I realized the true difference. It was like a sonic spiritual awakening. The bass, the vocals, the beat and clarity just were not there without the Sennheisers. Quality headphones amplify small details that you never knew existed; the artists go through the trouble of making masterpieces, the least we can do is listen to their songs how they were intended to be heard. I ditched the ear buds and went back to the RS 160’s and haven’t looked back since!

Do you really need these kitchen appliances? Yes, you do!

by Blogger on ‎11-19-2012 08:42 PM - last edited on ‎11-20-2012 11:24 AM by Blogger

Even if you love cooking, it can get a little time consuming creating dish after dish. Have a craving for peach pie? Not only can it take you an hour of prep time, it’s an hour to bake and then you’ll have to hang around until it’s cool enough to eat it.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to speed things up a bit?

That’s why having the right kitchen tools and appliances are so important. But I’m not talking about the usual things like cheese graters or ice cream scoops. I’m talking about the appliances that get you to the finish line faster – Things like pie makers, hot dog stands, fondue makers, and a appliance created just to help you serve up cupcakes.

High-End Compact Camera Comparisons - Travel with Ease!

by Blogger ‎11-18-2012 08:52 PM - edited ‎11-19-2012 12:18 PM

When traveling it is nice to take some great looking pictures without having to lug around the bigger DSLR type of camera. Fortunately, there are some excellent compact cameras that will fit into your pocket and take high quality point-and-shoot pictures.

When I researched higher-end compact travel cameras I had some minimum requirements.  They needed to be over 10 megapixels, have great zoom capabilities (15X or more), a re-chargeable lithium ion battery so they would last on the road, a variety of scene modes like panorama, image stabilization, HD video capabilities, and low-light capabilities for taking pictures at night. I found at least 5 brand-name cameras that fit these criteria, and then I took a few steps further in comparing their detailed features.

The Wii U hits the shelves today

You’ve probably experienced touch screen gaming on your tablet or smartphone, and you might have tried out UDraw for Wii or Xbox and played around with a stylus, but if you’ve been waiting for a gaming console that gives you touch screen control with just a a tap of your finger? Well then, your wait is over.

The Wii U is available today, and with it comes a host of cool new features and amazing games to go along with it. Wii U White is the basic version, and it’s backwards compatible with your original Wii motion-control remotes, accessories, and most of the games. The Wii U Black is the same, plus it has a higher storage capacity and comes with Nintendo Land, a game that will let you sail into the worlds of your favourite Nintendo characters.

Samsung ATIV S Windows Phone 8 is set to impress

by ShelaghM on ‎11-18-2012 02:16 AM - last edited on ‎11-19-2012 09:37 AM by Blogger

The Samsung ATIV S Windows Phone 8 can rival any of the current smartphones on the market. It's a terrific model with a striking design coupled with Microsoft’s powerful new operating system.

Enjoy all the new options with Windows 8 on a bigger and brighter 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED screen with 1280 x 720p resolution (standard screen is 4.5 inches).  The Samsung ATIV S Windows Phone 8 has a very responsive touch screen making it easy to pinch and zoom in on tiles or click into a Bing search. Windows Phone 8 Live Tiles look exceptionally crisp on this sharp display.
