The Neo Geo was the cadillac of gaming consoles in the early 90s, and game life to some of the most well known and longest running gaming series. 20 years after it rose to prominence, the Neo Geo X looks to bring back some of those memories. Plug-In had the chance to unbox one of these consoles. Come take a look!
When you really think about it, New Year’s Eve is quite an odd holiday. I mean, who decided that December would be the last month of the year? Why not April or June? And why do we all get dressed up, throw on hideous party hats and scream like crazy people at the stroke of midnight? I’m sure there is some history there that I could easily Google, but when you really boil it down, it is all really a little strange.
Strange though it is, it has to be one of the best times of year. Good wine, good food and good friends almost always equate to a memorable night. So this New Year’s Eve, whether you are hosting a party and need to stock up on essentials, or you’re attending a party and need to bring a fabulous hostess gift, we have you covered.
This holiday season I have decided to step away from all things digital (for a brief period) and step into an apron and the world of holiday baking. I’m not sure exactly how this experiment will go, I have a feeling my shortbread cookies will be decorated with website URL’s and my gingerbread men will be in the shape of smartphones; the gadget geek in me comes through no matter what.
I’ve just outfitted my kitchen transforming it from a reheat only area to a full out baking zone. If you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit and get some coworkers or friends and family on a good ol’ sugar high here’s my must have’s for baking excellence.
After the success of Spyro's Adventures, the Skylanders are back in Giant form for the sequel. Skylanders: Giants features easy drop-in, drop-out character swaps, a story-rich single player quest and even a battle mode for your friends. Check out our look at Skylanders: Giants!
It’s officially December, which means that the holidays are upon us. Along with hot cocoa, snow, and mistletoe, this season brings stress. You want to be able to enjoy yourself this December, so here are a few Apps that might make your holiday season just a little bit easier.
When the weather outside is frightful, tis the season to hide out inside and play games with the family. Although board games can be a lot of fun, you just can’t beat a night gathered around the TV with the latest and greatest video games. This year, you can give the gift of family time when you pick up some of the best family games of 2012.
Check out a few of these great titles and get ready for some fun winter nights:
The first in a two part installment of 2012s best racing titles, our first five tackle the more conventional racers on the list, the straight vehicular goodness so many gamers crave. With some of the franchises race fans have come to know and love, we've got your rubber, road, and RPMs.
Shopping for a teenager this year? Mine just turned 14 (two days ago to be exact) and it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier when it comes to getting the right gift to keep her happy. It’s always a difficult task to keep up with the latest trends and find something that won’t make its way to the return desk, or worse…shoved at the back of a desk drawer in a wasteland of crumpled paper.
Thankfully, I’ve noticed a trend over the past year…teenagers seem to love gadgets. With all of the time they spend glued to their phones instant messaging, texting and watching YouTube videos, it’s the ‘new’ way to stay connected with friends. Remember when chatting on the phone was cool for teenagers? Those days seem to be long gone with Skype and Facetime…feeling old yet?
This is our continued look at 10 of the best Action/Adventure games to come out this year, with any accompanying Plug-In Blogs we did with them. Click here to read through, and we've included a link to Part 1 as well in case you missed it.
We take a look back at some of the more memorable Action/Adventure games released in 2012. From World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (Pictured) to Darksiders II, check out this list of 10 of the best games of the genre to come out this year. This is the first of two parts.
For me, stockings are one of the best parts of Christmas. In addition to buying the typical practical items, I try to make a point of getting unique gifts that they wouldn’t normally buy for themselves. Fortunately Best Buy has lots of items that meet both of these criteria. I am going to give you 15 suggestions but I bet you can find a bunch more if you cruise their online shopping site. Stuffers shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg so all are under $15.
Apps are an amazing way to keep kids entertained. I think the best part of apps (and having an iPad) is that there are literally thousands of new apps to choose and new ways to play, so there’s something new for your child to pick from almost every day.
As much as I love the holidays, there are always a few sleepless nights tossing and turning trying to figure out what to get those “P” people on my shopping list. The “P” people are the picky, practical and the probably-got- it.
On my list, the picky people are the teenagers in my life that I buy for. It seems no matter what, I can’t seem to find the right size, colour or style to meet their demands. Almost every year, my hours of wandering through the mall are pointless as my gift selections are returned the week after Christmas. This year I have a lock on a return-proof gift that is sure to bring a genuine smile to their face and keep one less person out of the return line, wireless headphones.
Wireless headphones have just started to become a must have electronic accessory for any teenager who wants to stay connected to their tunes without the tangle of a cord. My top picks for wireless headphones are down below. I have a feeling no matter what choice I make, I can’t go wrong.
The magical world of Hogwarts and J. K. Rowling's beloved storytelling have returned to your Playstation 3 with Wonderbook: The Book of Spells, and it might just be neatest addition to a budding Wizard's collection. Check it out!
Do you know what time it is? Do you know what time it is !?!? No, seriously, do you happen to have the time? Well I do, as I had a chance to try the sleek and stylish Black Dice guru on for size... and then once I confirmed that it fit, I wore it around for awhile, just to see how I liked it.

I’m not really a marvel in the kitchen, and definitely would never label myself as a foodie. So when it comes to food I’m all about consumption, not so much preparation. While I do enjoy dabbling in the kitchen, it’s my guy who can whip up a meal like nobody's business. With that said, buying for a novice chef is time well spent. I’m all about strategically equipping him with the proper tools so that he can keep me fuelled.

Tis’ the season for friends and family to come together and enjoy all the holidays have to offer. Even though cooking is not my passion, I do enjoy hosting a good party. If you have a house full of people to entertain don’t fall short serving them with chipped or mismatched table wear. Thinking back to the first time I ever hosted a dinner party, I had everything planned and ready to go weeks before the actual party. I was hoping to impress the guests and be the “Hostess with the Mostest”.
Everything was coming together until I realized that the yummy bits I was serving were going to be plated on my old tableware and even, dare I admit it, the baking sheet they came out of the oven on. Martha Stewart would have probably died there on the spot if she were on the guest list.
One of the greatest things about how quickly technology changes is how you really never run out of choices. And although choice is a great thing, it can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to purchasing a computer. With the Holidays on the way (and because you may have someone who’s asked Santa for a new laptop), there’s never been a better time to brush up on amazing Ultrabooks.
Ultrabooks share a few common characteristics, among them the fact that they’re razor-thin and ultra-light. As an example, the Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook measures a slight 0.6 inches thick and weighs just over 3 pounds. When you consider how often you have to take a computer with you when you’re on the go, having it barely weigh down your bag is seriously appealing.
A quick look at some of the TV hits of yesterday and today available for the first time this Holiday Season as a complete series on DVD or BluRay. All are available right now at a Best Buy near you, or for Pre-Order on BestBuy.ca
It’s the beginning of November. The leaves have begun to fall and the rain has decided to rear its ugly head. As a west coast girl, the shift from sunny skies to endless rainfall can only mean one thing – Christmas is right around the corner. For those of you who feel like (a) we just got through Halloween, or (b) we just got through Christmas, here’s the deal … I feel your pain. These days it seems as though one holiday overlaps another. Soon we’ll be prepping for Easter while we are cooking our Thanksgiving turkey!
That said, as someone who loves Christmas more than any other holiday, it pays to be prepared. No one wants to be waiting in line for gifts on Christmas Eve. Do yourself a favour and shop WELL in advance, bust out the shiny wrapping paper and pretty bows, and be that person who has all their gifts wrapped and under the tree one month in advance. But when money is tight, how can you be that person? I’d like to be able to say I have the answer, but I really don’t, so instead, here is a list of the top 10 gifts you can get for those people on your list when you are sticking to a budget.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to ditch the bag of Halloween mini-chocolate bars and scary ghosts and goblins littering the walls and windows of my house in favour of the more refined things in life. The fact that Christmas and holiday entertaining are just around the corner have me ripping down the pumpkins, hanging up some white lights, and getting my recipe box ready for another season of baking, cooking, and eating.
Soon we’ll be decking the halls with boughs of holly, family, and the scents of Christmas trees, and if that seems stressful to you, don’t you worry - Here’s a few things you can pick up right now to take the stress out of holiday entertaining. This is the year you’ll really enjoy it, I promise:
