Review: Putty Squad [Playstation 4]

by Blogger on ‎03-28-2014 08:23 PM - last edited on ‎04-04-2014 02:54 PM by Editor in Chief

Putty-Squad-PS4-Wallpaper.pngThe game Putty Squad has a pretty screwy life cycle.  Originally released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo in PAL (outside North America) regions, it had review copies released for the Amiga, but Ocean Entertainment started to move away from publishing, and never released it.  Almost two decades passed, and Putty Squad was almost released for Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita and then FINALLY debuted for Amiga last year.  Putty Squad is now available in North America for Playstation 4, having been a rest of the world launch title.  Then, it will be released on Playstation 3 and Vita at the end of this month.  Was that confusing enough?  Hopefully the review isn't.  Click on to read about Putty Squad.

Review: South Park: The Stick of Truth

by Blogger on ‎03-04-2014 09:10 AM - last edited on ‎03-14-2014 11:13 AM by Editor in Chief

Stick_Of_Truth_Boxart.jpgIt's been a very long time since there was a South Park console game.  In fact, the newest system when the last console was game was out was Sega Dreamcast, a previous object of Cartman's affection.  Some 15 years after South Park Rally, it's time for the cast and crew to come back a few gaming generations and 200 episodes later.  The Stick of Truth is the first game back, courtesy of Ubisoft, and is a Role Playing Game of all things.  Featuring more fart gags and more inside jokes than perhaps any other video game I've ever played in my life, please come check out the review for this rather unique title.

E3 had barely opened its doors that I fell in love with Tearaway, an upcoming PS Vita game that combines the art direction of Katamari Damacy with the best use of the dual touchscreens that I can remember. A fun, fun game - just don't expect an easy ride because your character will gladly plunge to his or her death whenever you misread the game's 3D perspective - which happens A LOT.

So, exactly how many successful intellectual properties does Ubisoft own, anyway? There's Assassin's Creed, there's Far Cry, there's Rayman, Splinter Cell and half a dozen other Tom Clancy worlds, the Raving Rabbids... Last year, they introduced Watch_Dogs. Could there be more this year?

Yes, there certainly can.
