don't spend more than $20 on earphones if you're using an iPod, waste of money seeing that ipods create terrible sound quality

You might want to check out the Ultimate Ears headphone series, they even have a couple of models with inline mic and remote for handsfree use of your iPod or iPhone. You could also consider the Skullcandy 50/50, sound great and also have the inline remote...

Skullcandy HESH are $64.99 at (competitor) right now, and they're just about as good as you'll get for under 70... 50mm drivers and amazing build quality. Plus they look great too. Normally headphones this good will run you about 100...

If you have already broken two headphones look for something more durable...

I  recommend the Sennheiser PX100. I think the retail is around $50...Well,I tried some Sennheiser over-ear headphones but they were ridiculously tight on my head. I exchanged them for the Sony MDR-V6s, which I've used for years now. Excellent, excellent headphones. But these headphones are around 100$.
