Just wanted to alert the message board about some scam text messages that have been going around. They originate from a 917 area code, which originates in New York, and follow something along the lines of "Congratulations, you have won a $1000 Best Buy Gift Card. Claim your prize by going to bestbuy.wonacontest.com."
These text messages DO NOT originate from Best Buy or Best Buy Canada. They are sent out randomly to American and Canadian numbers and ask you to click on the website and enter your personal information. There is no $1000 Best Buy gift card. As an aside, American Best Buy (bestbuy.COM) will not target or ask for information from Canadian residents, so be wary of anyone claiming to be bestbuy.com or asking you to go to the .com address.
Please do not disclose any personal information to either the phone number or the website.

Just recieved a message, saying I'm the winner of the day, and to go claim my prize within 24hrs.
says it's a mobile phone from Brooklyn NY. Maybe Bestbuy needs to put up a banner on the site warning customers about this.
